Representatives of the McKeesport Trail Commission and The Progress Fund’s Trail Town Program® cleared trash and debris along the Marina at McKees Point. They planted a mix of annual and perennial plants in the parking area under the Jerome Bridge and around the trail building along Joe Bendel Way.
“This is kind of an entryway for McKeesport,” Trail Town fellow Courtney Mahronich said. “We wanted to add some color and brighten up the area.”
Beautifying sections of the trail that identify McKeesport is important to attract traffic to town, volunteers said. “It gives pride to the community here,” Trail Town fellow Corrie Parrish said. “And the trail users will be more likely to go into the town if the community looks good from the trail.” Read the full article.
