Punxsutawney Phil has a tough job as the only authentic and reliable weather prognosticator in the World. Predicting the weather, the old-fashioned way, without computers and models, is a tough duty. But it’s not a bad gig. He only works one day a year, in the early hours of February 2.
Soon all his other days of the year will be put to more use and be cushier too. The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club will soon finish construction of a house worthy of Phil’s worldwide reputation and his importance to weather forecasting. The Club’s Inner Circle, seen above in topcoats and top hats, are using loans from The Progress Fund and Jefferson County Development Council to build a new attraction to promote Phil and Punxsutawnery.
Phil’s wife Phyllis, and their children, Sunny and Shadow, are really looking forward to their new “digs”. Yes, their home will be generously furnished and have plenty of windows for Phil to peer out upon his adoring fans.
We now have a “prediction”…Phil’s new home at Gobbler’s Knob will be a great year-round tourism destination and an economic boost for Punxsutawney. See you there on the 2nd, and all year round too.
