Ryan and Molly Mercer will be honored by VisitMercerCountyPA, the tourism promotion agency, at its annual dinner June 25 at Grove City Country Club. The Mercers are recipients of the James E. Winner Jr. Tourism Initiative Award.
The Mercers, owners of Terra Nova House Bed and Breakfast in Grove City, oversee a bed and breakfast known for its elegant Victorian charm, its amenities and its hospitable innkeepers. They have made significant improvements and changes to the existing business they acquired four years ago, have dedicated their time and talents to their guests and have built a loyal and enthusiastic following.
The Mercers moved their family out of the inn in 2013 to make more room and privacy for their guests. Seeing the challenges this could create, they installed a call box at the front door and a cordless phone on each floor – all of which auto-dial to Ryan’s cell phone.
In 2014, with the help of grant money from VistMercerCountyPA, they added additional rooms to the third floor to accommodate more guests. They now have six guest rooms with a total maximum occupancy of 16 people. Each room is decorated with its own theme and features a variety of local art, which is for sale.
