July 6, 2011, Today, Congressman Mark Critz announced the final funding piece for construction on the Simeral Square project in downtown West Newton, PA. The Congressman presented a check representing a recent grant of $218,000 which is the final piece of the needed funding. The Progress Fund provided $70,000 with funds from the R.K. Mellon Foundation. Simeral Square will serve many needs: It will open up a view to the riverfront. It will add open greenspace to a congested intersection, be a center of activity for arts and entertainment and improve the streetscape of downtown West Newton which is a Trail Town providing services to bicyclist on the Great Allegheny Passage.
