Trail Inn Bed & Breakfast and Campground
I would recommend The Progress Fund to anybody. They treat you fair and square and believe in what you’re doing. Some things they want backed up, and that’s only natural
People
John and Beth Sayler had 12 gift shops on their property across the tracks from the “Old Depot” in Frostburg, MD. The historic “Tunnel Hotel” was the main focus of the property. The Great Allegheny Passage trail was established and they realized the need for accommodations for bicycle riders and other overnight guests. Hence the Trail Inn Bed & Breakfast was born by remodeling all of the buildings, adding bathrooms and a campground. John says “We are very proud of our guest rooms; they are very clean and uniquely decorated.” With John being the President of the bike trail in Allegany County, Maryland, he was aware of The Progress Fund and knew where to turn when he needed financial help.
Progress
“I went straight to The Progress Fund” says John. “We knew we needed some help.” Knowing that The Progress Fund does indeed help a lot of the businesses along the bike trail, he asked for $140,000 to consolidate debt and continue to make improvements to the property.
Impact
The Trail Inn Bed & Breakfast features 12 rooms, all with private baths, and a total of 42 beds, some of which were made locally with rustic pine logs. Guests can also choose to stay in a one or two bedroom suite, with a full kitchen available in the two bedroom suite. The Trail Inn Bed & Breakfast also offers an on-site tent campground with 45 campsites and a bathhouse for campers. The Trail Inn Café serves their famous Broaster chicken and so much more. John and Beth are very proud to have had guests from all over the world and bikers that come back to stay with them year after year.
