Ohiopyle Memories, LLC, dba Mill Run Inn
The loan officer has to see the vision of what we’re trying to do. We’re looking for partners who want to help us grow this business and The Progress Fund was a good pick for us.
People
How often do you get a shot at buying a beautiful country house in an accessible location a few minutes from a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Between them, Pam Kruse and Jessica Sherbondy already owned Falls City Market in Ohiopyle, plus 16 rental properties. But when a longtime bed & breakfast went on the market, they had to have it. “It’s just right beside Fallingwater,” says Pam. “Now you have my full attention.” That For Sale sign wouldn’t last. “It’s now or never.”
Progress
The two had borrowed from The Progress Fund before, but this time they “threw a pretty wide net,” exploring numerous financing options, says Pam. “It just so happened that The Progress Fund had the best offer by far.”
Impact
Now called the Mill Run Inn, the property caters to Fallingwater visitors, but guests get vouchers for breakfast at the Falls City Market. That links the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece to the cycling and rafting hub just four miles away. The new owners encourage their guests to check out the host of other Laurel Highlands attractions within 20 minutes drive of the inn. Fallingwater “was a day trip,” says Pam. “Now you’re going to stay in this area for a week.”
