Horn Cabins
I wasn’t treated as an individual at the bank. The Progress Fund always treated us as individuals and worked with us directly.

Sometimes Jeff Horn lets the sheep cut the grass around the vacation cabins. And guests enjoy his farm’s harvest at nearby “Horn O Plenty Freshtaurant”, a popular farm-to-table restaurant. Farming and hospitality have gone hand-in-hand since the Horn family settled in Mann’s Choice, in 1926. So when a family member opted to sell a house on the farm, Jeff and his wife Mandi saw a chance to add a dozen beds to their vacation rental portfolio, plus improve frontage on the kayak-friendly Juniata River.
Progress
The Progress Fund previously financed Horn O Plenty Freshtaurant. In seeking a mortgage for the house purchase, Jeff “went to The Progress Fund almost immediately,” he says. He secured a $136,000 loan.
Impact
Vacationing on a farm can mean relaxing, fly fishing or just seeing where food comes from. “That’s pretty amazing, when you meet somebody who hasn’t seen a cow in their life,” says Jeff. “They just light up, ‘Wow, a cow!'” It’s an experience worth sharing. “You have people who want to come out by the 10 or 20, bringing all of the family or their friends,” says Jeff, and the 12-bed house helps larger groups to experience that “wow.”
