People
Dimitrios Takos had 18 years of successful restaurant management and ownership in the New York City area. He was a 50% partner and managed the La Pequena Columbia Restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York. His partner, who owned the real estate decided to retire and lease the restaurant property to a retail chain. Dimitrios along with his wife Jennifer, who is from the Pittsburgh area, decided to back to Pittsburgh and open their own restaurant.
Progress
The Progress Fund provided a $200,000 loan for the additional working capital they needed to open their restaurant. When Dimitrios and Jennifer sought a small business line of credit for future building improvements and equipment purchases, The Progress Fund provided a $30,000 line.
Impact
The restaurant is an excellent addition to the growing Robinson Township retail and entertainment area, and has created 40 full time and 15 part time jobs.
This project was financed in part using Pennsylvania Small Business Credit Initiative (PSBCI) funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development.
