Alpine Property Rentals, LLC - Forest Creek Lodge
Usually we just call The Progress Fund first. We’ve had a lot of success with The Progress Fund, and if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it. I tell everybody to call The Progress Fund.

The Ohiopyle area was well on its way to drawing 1.5 million visitors a year before Pam Kruse arrived. But back then, most visitors to the outdoor adventure playground didn’t stay long. “They would leave as soon as the sun went down,” says Pam. Then Airbnb came along, and Pam and her wife, Jessica, began to see an upswing in sales at their business, Falls Market Restaurant & Inn — even in the winter. Sensing opportunity, the Kruses began buying houses for use as vacation rentals.
Progress
When a Maryland couple offered to sell their vacation cabin in nearby Confluence, the Kruses turned to their usual lender. The Progress Fund backed them again, with a $210,000 loan.
Impact
“It’s super cool. It’s right on the stream. It’s nice and forest-y,” says Pam. With room for eight, Forest Creek Lodge is a great fit for the Kruses’ signature amenity: a hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a winter hike. “People are coming here year around to stay in houses,” says Pam. They’re adventuring, eating, drinking and shopping more, and that’s boosting the entire entrepreneurial community. Says Pam: “That’s what we’re all about.”
